Zatímco Kanadský konvoj svobody pokračuje a ovlivňuje další protestující po celém světě, kanadská média pokračují v šíření naprostých dezinformací a naznačují, že za hnutím stojí ruská vláda.
Když se konvoj koncem ledna poprvé dostal do povědomí, státní televizní stanice Canadian Broadcasting Company začala šířit zcela nepodložená tvrzení, že mezi kanadskými řidiči kamionů jsou „ruští herci“, kteří zadržují velká města včetně Ottawy a Toronta a také hraniční přechody.
Chabé zdůvodnění této teorie spočívá v tom, že Kanada vyjádřila podporu Ukrajině v době trvajícího napětí mezi touto zemí a Ruskem.
Místo toho, aby přiznala, že pracující řidiči kamionů mají dost vynucených omezení a povinných vakcín, které ohrožují jejich živobytí, vyrukovala CBC s bláznivou myšlenkou, že za protesty tajně stojí Vladimir Putin.
CBC pokračuje v prosazování této konspirační teorie a zpravodaj Harry Forestell v pátek natočil následující reportáž, v níž věnoval vysílací čas „odborníkovi na kybernetickou bezpečnost z Nového Brunswicku“ Davidu Shipleymu, který je skálopevně přesvědčen, že za vším stojí Rusové.
Shipley prohlásil: „Kdo by měl právě teď důvod způsobit v Kanadě co největší chaos? No, na prvním místě tohoto seznamu je Rusko.“
Pokračoval:
„Jsme aktivně zapojeni do geopolitické bitvy o budoucnost Ukrajiny. Náš ministr zahraničních věcí, náš premiér a další velmi hlasitě podporují Ukrajinu a zdá se velmi pravděpodobné, že taktika, které jsme svědky, vytváření masivních skupin na Facebooku za použití falešných identit nebo v případě, který nyní uvádí jedno z amerických sdělovacích prostředků, ukradené identity ženy z Missouri k vytvoření těchto skupin a k podpoře této komunikace stovek tisíc lidí, to je příručka ruské agentury pro výzkum internetu napsaná ve velkém.“
Shipley zvažoval, že možná jsou tito řidiči kamionů také čínskými agenty, ale nakonec ne, jsou to Rusové.
Prohlásil: „Máte i jiné nepřátele. Máte Čínu, máte další státy, ale když zúžím seznam podezřelých a nemám dostatek důkazů, abych vyhrál u soudu, ale to teď nepotřebuji, zavání to takovým krokem, jaký v minulosti udělalo Rusko, Spojené státy a pokračují v tom po celém světě.“
Na otázku, jaké je řešení tohoto naléhavého problému s ruskými agenty, Shipley odpověděl, že řešením je omezit a zrušit přítomnost konvoje na sociálních sítích.
Rozhodně nemáte dostatek důkazů, pane Shipley, protože žádné neexistují.
